Sunflowers In The Sky

Before the dawn and
The Moon became lost
In the daylight,
I saw sunflowers
In a blue sky.

But, I wasn’t here
Nor there.
I was where life is
Fast, slow, a dream, or
Nightmare.
Where reality and fantasy
Are often compared.

My eyes were closed
Yet I could see
Everything clearly:

My dark hair, cascading
Over white linen.
I saw myself asleep, while
Sleeping.

I tossed and turned
Finally I opened my eyes;
Only to see something never before
Seen–
Like sunflowers in the sky.

From a memory or a dream.
I’ve read about you in poems
And storybooks. You’ve
Spoken to me through
Song-lyrics. I’ve seen your
Face in paintings and I’ve
Deciphered your hieroglyphics.
I know you…
We’ve met a million times before,
Without an exchange of words.
When we met I was you and
You were me. Maybe you were
A flower and I was a bee.
But every-time we meet
We wore different faces.
I know, I know you…
From different times,
From different places.

Antithesis

I have loved too much
But have not been loved enough…

This is where my heart rests…
This is who I became:

ONCE, I was a girl, dreaming UPON A love; in TIME
Woke up as a woman, in a nightmare of pain.

Mistreated love, conditions the heart
To pump out hate…

It’s not right,
But it’s an even exchange…

Because in love and war,
ALL is fair game.

This January Moon:

It’s the first from the rest…
It craves passion…
It’s hungry for warm hearts…
It yearns for minds to caress…

In the wind you hear its howl…
Its call for souls to undress…
It beams full of dreams…
Left behind from your breath…

It illuminates paths…
Once roads of distress…
It leads to desired destinations…
This moon is unlike the rest…
